The top of the dish should always be vertical. Make use of a bubble level to confirm its verticality. The proper way to do so is to take measurements at 90 degree intervals around the top of the mast. This step cannot be ignored and must be accurately carried out to ensure that you can receive the strongest signals. Ultimately, using a spectrum analyzer is the best way to find a satellite and peaking reception of its signal. There are also cheaper signal meters. If you do not feel comfortable about doing this, consult your local satellite dealer.
